Electrical Design Engineer

Job Title: Electrical Design Engineer | Location: Middletown, RI | Full-Time

Description of Work:

PURVIS Systems has an immediate opening for an Electrical Design Engineer to be part of a growing design and installation team.  The candidate will work closely with other team members, subject matter experts, Navy military and civilian personnel to develop and update U.S. Navy submarine system designs and development.

Responsibilities: 

Support U.S Navy submarine system designs and development including performance of the following tasks:

  • Review of system requirements

  • Analyze alteration packages for equipment installed on submarines

  • Support design and development of cabling kits, circuit card assemblies, and connector/mounting plates

  • Take systems from concept, to prototype, and through production

  • Solve technically challenging problems with a multi-disciplinary engineering approach

  • Develop, modify, update, and maintain technical documentation

  • Develop, update, and maintain technical drawing packages. Drawing packages may include production drawings, circuit card assemblies, connector/cabling wiring tables, schematic diagrams, functional block diagrams, test, and assembly fixture drawings

  • Occasional travel to conduct ship checks to support and validate designs

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in electrical engineering or equivalent years of applicable experience

  • 1 – 4 years of professional experience in electrical system design

  • Proficient with AutoCAD software

  • Experience with drafting standards and practices

  • Ability to calculate Amps and BTU’s

  • Experience using Microsoft Office 365 programs

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently

  • Knowledge of existing submarine systems, Military Specifications, and previous defense industry is a plus.

Candidate must have or be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
