Sonar Training Specialist

Job Title: Sonar Training Specialist | Location: Newport, RI | Full-Time

Description of Work:

PURVIS Systems is a technology solutions company that develops, implements, and maintains mission-critical solutions for Federal and Local Governments.  We have an immediate opening for a Sonar Training Specialist to be part of a team supporting the development, testing, installation, and training for Sonar-related carry-on systems.

Responsibilities: 

The Sonar Training Specialist will:

  • Develop/update training materials and curriculum to support Sonar-related carry-on equipment/systems.

  • Coordinate scheduling of training with the platform.  Monitor Navy schedules for changes to plan training.

  • Prepare and review training messages.

  • Provide input to project schedules for training events.

  • Train Submarine officers and crew for Sonar-related carry-on equipment, both in-port and underway.

  • Provide Subject Matter Expertise (SME) support during training sessions and evaluation and response to Casualty Report (CASREPs).

Qualifications: 

The Sonar Training Specialist must have:

  • A minimum of 5 years civilian or military submarine Sonar experience.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and reviewing training documentation for officers and crew.

  • Experience with operation of U.S. Navy submarines.

  • In lieu of a degree, candidates will be given consideration with relevant experience.

  • A Master Training Specialist, Sonar supervisor and/or ships qualification, a plus.

The Training Specialist must have the ability to work closely with Subject Matter Experts and Navy military and civilian personnel.  Individual must be proficient with Microsoft Office products.

This position requires travel CONUS/OCONUS as well as possible at-sea events.  A valid US Passport is required. 

Candidate must have or be able to obtain a government security clearance to the level of SECRET.
