Job Title: Field Service Technician | Location: Brooklyn, NY | Full-Time

PURVIS Systems is a technology leader in the public safety industry and provides state of the art system solutions to Fire Departments across the United States.  We are seeking resumes for a Field Service Technician.  Looking for a tech-minded person to be responsible for providing technical maintenance and possible repair of computer systems, hardware, and software.

Description of Work:

As a Field Service Technician, responsibilities include:

• Troubleshooting and repairing electromechanical equipment to the component level and at the bench.
• Soldering and use of various hand tools and electronic test equipment.
• Repair all aspects of desktop computers, peripherals and troubleshoot down to component level.
• Install and configure new software and/or hardware, as required.

Position requires some heavy lifting of equipment from time to time. Candidate should also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Field Service technician must be available for all shifts to cover a 24×7 operation.  Position includes on-call time and ability to travel to various work sites in a specific timeframe. 

Qualifications: 

Candidates for the Field Service Technician must have:

• A technical degree in electronics and computers.
• A minimum of two (2) years related work experience.
• Ability to troubleshoot electronic systems in the field and at a workbench.

The Field Service technician must be familiar with all aspects of desktop computers, be able to read schematics and troubleshoot down to component level. Knowledge of simple networking and network cabling, operating systems (Windows 10, Windows 11, Etc…). Must be capable of installing and configuring new hardware and software. 

Excellent written and verbal communication is important.  Must be able to work well alone and with others.

Individual must be able to pass an FBI criminal background check.  Due to the nature of the work, candidate must reside in one of the five boroughs of New York City.   No sponsorship available.
