Procurement Specialist

Job Title: Procurement Specialist

Qualifications and Experience: Candidate must a high school degree or GED certificate, and a minimum of 2 to 5 years of general experience, preferably in a government industry. This position will interface with various government and contractor positions, along with vendors.

  • General working knowledge of government supply systems, programs, policies, acronyms, nomenclatures.
  • Ability to analyze and define the program requirements and schedules.
  • Proficiency with database, spreadsheets and word processing computer skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good time management skills.

Description of Work: This position will perform duties of a data librarian, resource control and security clear. These duties support to three facilities on-site at NUWC: the Life Cycle Support Facility (LCSF), Combat Control Systems Lab (CCSL), and Combat Systems Tech Lab (CSTL). Candidate will update, edit and add information to Media database files.

This position assists the lead Logistics Analyst in supporting the OHIO Class Installation and Checkout Spares program. Responsible for managing the government tangible assets under the OHIO program that supports naval facilities located in Kings Bay, GA; Bangor, WA; Newport, RI; and also the navy’s Fleet. The primary responsibilities include:

  • Interfacing with vendors
  • Obtaining necessary quotes and information regarding new items of supply, item characteristics, and procurement lead times.
  • Preparing, tracking and processing procurements.
  • Receiving and inspection of orders.
  • Understanding program requirements and changes.
  • Scheduling shipments according to established schedules and their changes.
  • Preparing necessary shipping documentation and tracking shipments.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining inventory of available spares.
  • Validating inventory in the government’s Integrated Logistics Support Management Information System.
  • Generating funding requirement and buy lists, based upon schedules and program support data sheets.
  • Researching pricing based on modernization schedules.
  • Determining best procurement method.
  • Implementing Item Unique Identification (IUID) and Navy Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

A government clearance to the SECRET level is required for this position.
