System Engineer

Qualifications: Bachelor or Masters of Science Engineering or Computer related disciplines.

Candidate must have 5 or more years of industry experience.

Experience in system integration and having broad and in-depth knowledge of current IT technology including Operating systems, servers, workstations, LAN and WAN IP networking. IT communication standards both current and legacy. A good understanding of communication protocols such as TCPIP, UDP, electronic interface standards such as RS-232, RS-485 and Ethernet. Knowledge of telecommunication systems, physical security, emergency communication procedures, and video display technologies is a plus.

The candidate must exhibit technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and executing assignments. The candidate must have excellent written and oral communication skills.

The candidate must be able to work independently and with a project team.

Description of Work: The candidate will have a number of engineering responsibilities in developing solutions for PURVIS customers. These responsibilities include; technical assessments of customer systems and facilities; development of technical as well a program/project requirements, planning and analysis services associated with researching new technical trends, products and services, such as hardware components, system software and networks; preliminary and detailed designs.

Success in this position requires effective interpersonal skills and communications skills, as the position requires frequent interaction with end users, presentations to customers and managers.

The ideal candidate will have proven experience in at least four of the following areas:

• Server and workstation technology
• Video Wall Design and Integration
• Redundant and high availability system design
• LAN and WAN network operation and design
• Software development
• Familiarity in telephony such as PBXs, CSUs and T1 circuits
• Physical security and building monitoring system design
• Public safety systems such as Computer Aided Dispatch and/or Land Mobile Radio
• Project Management
• 911 emergency communications and procedures
• Requirements development
• Vendor Management
